24 hour Nurse ?!?!

I have a 24 hour nurse in the form of a chihuahua and a great view from my bed. Today's going pretty well, I'm trying to get used to the pain meds and this new routine.

Home!

I'm home after a major fiasco with pain Meds and pharmacy closings.

I was scheduled to be discharged at 2:30pm, which coincided with the exact time my pain Meds were due. Perfect timing: some Meds to get me through the car ride and smooth sailing from there.

I was ready to roll. Ruben, my mother-in-law Chris, and Rey (happy birthday) were there to help me pack my belonging and hit the road. Uncle Terry even offered to be the chauffeur. To add even more complexity to the perfect plan, we were also acting as a distraction for Rey, whose girlfriend Sarah planned a wonderful surprise party to begin at the same time I was released. The plan was to have Rey help me out the hospital, then show up and SURPRISE!

You can already imagine that plan was too good to be true. While I was ready to go, the 1st year resident wrote out my prescription with the wrong dose. Once that was done, we needed another senior level MD to rewrite the Rx. When we got the proper Rx we needed to find a pharmacy that was still open on Labor Day weekend that had this specific dosage available. All in all, I was released a few hours later and that's it. I'm home with the proper Meds and my chihuahua by my side.

It feels nice to be in my bed and begin the long healing journey.

Hospital Food

Is my fav! Today I had chicken parm, broccoli, lentil soup, and a brownie. The sandwich on the side is a snack for later.

I'm feeling pretty good and looking forward to heading home this afternoon.

Woo hoo!

Things to do while recuperating

This list will be constantly updated it here are a few things if like to do:

Learn the cup song
Christmas Shopping
Knit a scarf
Create a Vision board
Start a small business

And here's my cute niece with a balloon (random, I know)

Knee Surgery!

After dislocating my knee in December and then again most recently in July, I have decided to have surgery to correct the way my patella slides in its groove.

Here are the official surgical procedures I had done:

SURGICAL PROCEDURE:  Arthroscopic debridement, possible lateral release, MPFL reconstruction with hamstring allograft, arthrotomy tibial tubercle transfer, anterior compartment release.

To sum it all up, this cute button here has been my best friend.

Originally I was scheduled to go home on Saturday, but the doctors want me to be able to go up and down stairs on crutches before I leave...in that case I may never leave.

Thanks to all my sweet friends who have visited and brought goodies.

Xoxo

Fancy nails!

I finally did the newsprint manicure and I love it!

Pretty fitting provided I work for a publisher.

Here's a pic, but just ignore the polish on my skin and not on my nails. :)

Ever notice how a feather falls...

Feather, originally uploaded by laurie mayes.
It's one of the most serene things no matter how high it's falling from.
The feather falls as if it's being cradled all the way down.

I want to live my life similar to that feather... Knowing that no matter how high I am or how fast I may be falling, God's cradling me the entire way.

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he's the one who will keep you on track.

Portobello Pizza... I'm drooling here at work

I am starving and am dying to try this recipe. Portobello Pizza
What do you think? I'll let you know how it turns out!

Ingredients

1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic, diced
6 ounces portobello mushroom caps, cleaned
Pinch salt
Pinch freshly ground black pepper
12 ounces mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
10 fresh basil leaves
2 fresh tomatoes, sliced, roasted, or grilled
Oregano leaves (optional)

Instructions

Combine the oil and garlic in a small bowl and rub the mushroom caps on all sides with the mixture. Place the caps, top side down, in a circle on an oiled baking sheet. Season with the salt and pepper. Arrange the cheese, basil, and tomato slices alternately in a circle on top of the mushrooms. Sprinkle with the oregano, if using. Bake at 450 degrees F until the cheese melts, about 3 minutes.

Moth Hate Crimes?!?!?

Moths have destroyed most of my winter sweaters. It is a sad day.
